We are a group of friends working together to support and promote a community of musicians. While not restricted to Northwest Ohio, this is our home-base, and at this point all of the musicians and bands we are working with are from or have close ties to this corner of Ohio.
We had been kicking this idea around for quite awhile before actually deciding to go ahead and give it a shot. The Northwest Ohio Rockestra of October, 2010, was one of the things that kicked it into gear. The “Rockestra” was put together in order to celebrate the history of the local music scene, featuring performances by current bands and musicians as well as reunions of older bands at Howard’s club H in Bowling Green. The “house” band learned many songs recorded by local bands dating back to the mid-eighties and invited the original musicians to sit-in. This way we were able to have songs from thirty or forty different bands, all local hit-makers, without having to have each individual band reform. It was all thrown together very quickly and admittedly could devolve into a sloppy mess at times. The house band for the Rockestra are now the owners and the board of directors of Cytoblast Records.
Another thing that really got us motivated was the Dumb Easies recording of their new record “Love! Love! Love!” at WFM studios. When we heard what they had achieved, we really wanted to be involved in helping to bring it to a wider audience.
Reinventing the record industry since 2011, we are changing the world one single at a time. Using a wide variety of old-school and new-school techniques to get the word out, our goal is to help our community of musicians, venues, music retailers, recording engineers, and other related artists expand and develop.
